Things to Consider Before Buying a Baby Jogger Vue Lite

Let’s start by talking about what you should consider when you’re buying a reversible stroller. Ask yourself, “Will having a reversible stroller with a canopy make life easier for my family?”

If you’re looking for a stroller that offers flexibility and adjustable seating, then a reversible stroller is exactly what you need. These types of strollers are designed to make life easier for us moms and exciting for our babies. Most reversible strollers are also equipped with a reclining seat and a foldable frame.

The Baby Jogger Vue Lite offers all these amazing features, and much more! This umbrella stroller is also easy to set up and clean. It weighs about 14 pounds. When assembled, its dimensions are 32.5 x 19.75 x 41.75 inches.

All in all, we think that the Vue Lite is a great choice for parents who are looking for a no-fuss umbrella stroller.

Baby Jogger Vue Lite Overview

The Baby Jogger Vue Lite is a single stroller with reversible seating. I can’t tell you how awesome this feature is! With traditional strollers, you had to stop every once in a while to check on your baby, maybe talk a bit.

Yet with the Vue Lite, you’re face-to-face with your child, which makes life easier. You also get to share the experience and actually enjoy being together.

Moreover, it was easy for me to do a quick diaper change by fully reclining the seat. When Baby went down for a nap, I was able to adjust the reclining level to make him comfortable and safe.

The only downside, even if I’m nitpicking, is that the way the seat is designed rules out the option of the Vue Lite from being a sit-and-stand stroller.

The Vue Lite was launched a year after the original Vue hit the market. Yet, both umbrella strollers have some great qualities in common. For example, they’re both reversible, lightweight, and easy to fold.

However, when we compared the Vue Lite with other Baby Jogger strollers, such as the City Select line of jogger strollers, we found the Vue Lite was lacking in certain areas.

For instance, the City Select strollers offer better control, more storage, and smoother rides. They’re also more expensive.

The Vue Lite, however, could use some improvement in maneuverability, and it could also use some more storage. Yet, at such an affordable price, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Features & Benefits

The Baby Jogger company launched in 1984. Its main aim was to provide parents who love exercising outdoors an easy and reliable way to do so with their toddlers. Hence, the first authentic jogging stroller was born.

Read ahead to find out more about the Baby Jogger Vue Lite and all its great features.

Seat

When the Baby Jogger Vue Lite came out, it was all anyone could talk about. No one had seen a reversible stroller seat before. It was a unique and impressive feature that took the mommy world by storm.

The main benefit is that it made it accessible for your child to see your face. You could now interact with him face-to-face as you’re walking or jogging. It’s one of those features that makes life a little bit easier.

Another reason why parents loved this feature so much was how easy it was to reverse the seat. It’s a simple one-hand motion where you flip the seat, attach it to the canopy, then adjust the headrest.

Once you’ve reversed the seat, you can choose from three reclining positions to keep your child as comfortable as possible. You’ll be happy to hear that the reclining feature works in both modes.

The seat measures 13 inches wide with a back that’s 20 inches tall.  There’s also an additional 5 inches between the seat and canopy, which gives your child plenty of headroom.

Canopy

The canopy on the Vue Lite is one of the largest found on umbrella strollers. It has a rating of UV 50+ to shield your child against harmful UV rays.

One feature that caught our eye was that the canopy reverses with the seat. That was unheard of before the Vue Lite!

With previous models, as the original Vue, you had to detach the canopy entirely from the seat, then reattach it on the opposite side. With the Vue Lite, just reverse the seat and the canopy reverses with it.

Handlebars

The handlebars are covered in comfortable ergonomic foam. They’re higher than most other umbrella strollers. Because they can’t be adjusted, these high handlebars can pose a problem for short parents.

On the other hand, tall parents will have a great time pushing this stroller around. In fact, the Vue Lite could be one of the few umbrella strollers out there that cater to tall parents who are 5 ft. 5 in. and taller.

One possible downside to the handlebars is that they don’t come with a cup holder. You have to buy it separately and install it yourself.

Wheels

The Vue Lite features four double EVA 5-inch wheels. The rear wheels are straight and come with a braking mechanism. They’re also anti-shock to help absorb bumps along the way.

The front wheels are swivel, but can also lock to remain in a straight position. The Vue Lite wheels can’t handle rough terrains. They’re better equipped for flat surfaces.

Travel System

The Travel System is an exclusive option that the Baby Jogger company provides its customers. This is a great feature to watch out for.

So how can the Travel System make your life easier? By making it accessible for you to fit a compatible Baby Jogger City Go infant car seat into the stroller. You can also install an infant carrier, also called a soft pram or bassinet.

Compact Fold

To fold the Vue Lite, pull back the canopy. Then, use the foot release to release the chassis. Finally, push the handlebars down towards the floor to lock in place. It’s quick and effortless.

Once you fold it, there’s an automatic lock mechanism. The carrying handle on the side makes transporting the stroller hassle-free.

The dimensions of the Vue Lite when folded are 15.43 x 12.25 x 39.75 inches. It’s important to mention that you can fold the stroller while the seat is in either direction.

Storage Space

For us, the small storage basket under the seat was a letdown. It limits the choices of what you can take along with you. It’s important to mention that there’s a back pocket area that you can use for storage. However, it’s only accessible when the stroller is in the forward-facing position.

Alternatives & Conclusion

The Baby Jogger Vue Lite reversible umbrella stroller is affordable, versatile, and user-friendly. Having a reversible seat that reclines are just a couple of features that appeal to many parents.

The Vue Lite may be lacking in certain aspects, such as a bigger storage basket and some accessories. However, it’s still considered a great stroller overall.

If you feel that the Vue Lite isn’t for your family, there are other excellent alternatives to choose from. The first thing you have to do is to think about what you want out of your stroller. Do you want something with a sporty design? Or are you on the hunt for something more budget-friendly?

If you’re looking for a stroller that can handle tough terrain, try the Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight Stroller. It’s lightweight, yet durable enough to handle all types of surfaces.

The 12-inch front wheel is air-filled for maximum comfort. The two rear wheels are 16 inches each with suspension for a smooth ride and effortless control.

The Zoom 360 Ultralight has a 17-inch storage basket. Its large size and sturdy design make it easy to carry anything from baby gear to a couple of grocery bags.

Another worthy choice that’s a bit more affordable than the Vue Lite is the Baby Trend Expedition. It has all the great basic features found in the Vue Lite, such as a multi-position reclining seat, rear-wheel brakes, and an adjustable canopy, at a lower price.

However, the Expedition takes things a bit further with its large, durable wheels that offer a smooth and comfortable ride. Plus, it comes with a child’s snack tray and a double-cup holder for the parents.

You’ll also find a covered storage compartment under the seat with ample space for all your baby’s stuff. It’s strong enough to carry up to 12 pounds in extra weight.
