The Vista is UPPAbaby’s premium luxury stroller option, marketed to parents as the one stroller that will take them through the newborn days and support their growing families. The Minu is one of the brand’s four lightweight stroller options, ideal for parents who need a compact stroller for travel that still provides comfort and durability suitable for everyday use.

Uppababy Minu vs Vista

This guide will discuss the most important features of these two strollers and how they might fit into your busy lifestyle as a parent.

Overview: Uppababy Minu vs Vista

UPPAbaby Vista V2

UPPAbaby VISTA V2 Stroller - JORDAN (charcoal/silver/black leather)
  • Enjoy a softer ride pushing one child (or three!) over any ground surface thanks to a new spring-action all-wheel suspension and slightly softer tires.
  • Extended canopies on the toddler seat and RumbleSeat accessory include zip out fabric that provide even more shade from the sun. Mesh panels also make it easy to peek in while adding...
  • A higher back and deeper foot rest on the toddler seat provide added comfort for growing children

On the market since 2020, the UPPAbaby Vista V2 is the brand’s most updated version of the Vista. Although on the pricier end, it is a sleek, comfortable, smooth stroller with many available accessories, and it’s a popular choice for new parents expecting their first child.

UPPAbaby Vista

The Vista can hold up to two children seated and one standing and comes standard with a newborn bassinet and a toddler seat. Seats can face forward or backward and include an adjustable calf support and multiple reclining positions.

An extendable sun canopy slides upward to fit a growing toddler. The stroller handle also extends upward to accommodate taller parents who have trouble pushing shorter strollers.

When pushing the Vista, it’s almost impossible not to appreciate the smoothness of the ride, thanks to premier shock absorption and large front and back wheels. The premium suspension and adjustable seat features make for a comfortable spot for children to relax for longer walks and set this stroller ahead of others in its class.

UPPAbaby released an updated version of their Minu stroller, the Minu V2, in April 2022. The 17-pound Minu falls into the category of a lightweight or travel stroller and folds into thirds for a compact carry. Parents can collapse the Minu with only one hand, leaving their other arm free to carry their child or groceries.

UPPAbaby Minu

Although so lightweight that you’d think you were getting a flimsy stroller, the Minu is much sturdier than a typical umbrella stroller. It has ample storage capacity and is even compatible with UPPAbaby’s infant bassinet and infant car seats (with the use of adapters). Its flexibility to be used from day one of babyhood sets it apart from other lightweight strollers.

Like the Vista, the Minu has a reclining toddler seat and four-wheel suspension, so parents can be confident their child is comfortable on longer strolls. This makes the Minu appealing for everyday use in addition to travel where lengthier walks might take place.

Similar to the Vista, UPPAbaby has published a number of videos to help parents learn more about the Minu. A helpful two-minute overview video shows busy parents how it navigates everyday activities.

Things We Like

  • Light and extremely compact when folded
  • Comfortable for passengers, thanks to shock absorption and large seat
  • Suitable for use from birth (with add-ons)
  • Allows for 20 pounds of storage capacity under the seat

Room for Improvement

  • Heavier than other lightweight strollers
  • Pricey for a travel stroller
  • The folding mechanism occasionally catches

Features That Matter

Now that we have a solid overview of both these strollers let’s compare them head-to-head on the features you care about most.

Price Range

As with other UPPAbaby strollers, both the Vista and the Minu are on the higher end of the price spectrum. Consumers purchasing a Vista can expect to spend somewhere around $1000, while parents purchasing the Minu can expect to spend at least a few hundred dollars. The Minu is clearly the winner in terms of cost, but it is still pricey compared with other travel strollers.

With both strollers, buyers receive a reliable, high-quality product for the cost. While lower budget options are available, they sacrifice features such as storage capacity, suspension, portability, comfort, and convertibility.

Storage Capacity

The Vista and the Minu both offer ample room in storage baskets located underneath the seat.

The Vista’s storage basket is very accessible and accommodates 30 pounds of cargo, which is a lot compared to other strollers. The Minu’s storage basket is noticeably smaller than the Vista’s because the overall stroller is more compact. However, it still holds 20 pounds of storage, which is considerably greater than competing lightweight strollers.

I find storage capacity to be a lifesaver with both of these strollers. The Vista’s basket is so large I can load an entire duffel bag or a significant amount of groceries inside. We have used our Minu frequently for travel and for walking to dinner, and on either occasion, I’ve been thankful to be able to stuff our packed-full (and heavy!) diaper bag underneath the seat.

Wheel Type and Suspension

Uppababy Minu vs Vista wheels

Suspension is one category where both strollers excel, but the Vista takes the cake. Both strollers incorporate UPPAbaby’s shock-absorbing, spring-action suspension on all four wheels. This means that rolling the stroller over uneven sidewalks, cobblestones, or gravel has not been a problem for us.

Poor suspension can limit parents from using their travel stroller on an everyday basis. But, because the Minu has great shock absorption, we are comfortable using it for longer outdoor strolls into town.

The Vista and the Minu differ considerably in wheel size. The diameter of the Vista’s wheels is 2.5 inches greater in the front (8″ vs. 5.5″) and a whopping 5 inches greater in the back (11.5″ vs. 6.5″).

Though they add to the stroller’s size, The Cista’s larger wheels create an incredibly smooth ride that you really can’t appreciate until you push one down the street. When my son’s grandparents first pushed him in this stroller, they described it as the Cadillac of strollers and were blown away by the resistance-free ride.

Portability

Uppababy Minu vs Vista portability

Both strollers collapse with a one-step folding mechanism. While the Vista folds in half like most strollers, the Minu folds into thirds, making it extremely small when stowed and creating a huge impact on the ease of use.

The folded Vista is 17.3″ by 25.7″ by 33.3″; the folded Minu is 12″ by 20.3″ by 23″. On a practical basis, this difference is huge.

The Vista takes up a large proportion of our car trunk, limiting what else can fit inside. On the other hand, we can store the Minu on the floor in front of our toddler car seat or in the overhead compartment on flights.

The Minu, which has an attached carrying strap, is also significantly lighter than the Vista, weighing less than 17 pounds. This makes it easy for parents and grandparents to carry the stroller or load it into the car.

Comparatively, the 27-pound Vista is heavy, making it difficult for caregivers to lift it over curbs or load it into the trunk. The Vista is also wide (25.7″) compared to other strollers (and to the 20.3″ Minu), making it difficult to navigate narrow doorways.

As a new mom living downtown during my son’s first nine months, I struggled to lift the Vista—our only stroller at the time—to our walkup condo and had to collapse it to enter the building because of its width. This created a logistical hassle every time we arrived home and made it impossible for our son to stay asleep if he was napping in the stroller.

Looking back, the Minu would have been the perfect city stroller for navigating urban living.

Accessories

The Vista has more included accessories than the Minu.  Parents receive both an infant bassinet and a toddler seat when they purchase the Vista, along with a bumper bar, rain shield, and bug shield for the toddler seat and a bug shield and storage bag for the bassinet.

The Minu, which comes with an attached toddler seat, now comes with a bumper bar, creating added security when your toddler leans forward. The bumper bar can be swapped out for a snack and drink tray on both strollers, sold separately.

Both strollers have a large, extendable sun canopy with 50+ UPF protection, meaning you can feel confident your child is protected from the sun while snoozing. Peekaboo panels make it easy to check on them during strolls.

Although you need adapters for the Minu and non-UPPAbaby car seats with the Vista, both strollers accommodate popular infant car seats by UPPAbaby, Maxi-Cosi, Nuna, and Cybex.

UPPAbaby’s newborn bassinet, which you can purchase separately for use with the Minu, means your baby can lie flat instead of folded in the car seat. Parents can remove the bassinet easily to carry a sleeping baby inside at the end of a walk, a feature I found to be a lifesaver for extending those precious naps.

Both strollers accommodate add-ons such as a cup holder for the parent’s drink of choice, a carry-all parent organizer, and a travel bag. If purchasing the travel bag, UPPAbaby also offers a stellar TravelSafe program that can help reimburse you for damage incurred during air travel.

Finally, parents can purchase a piggyback ride-along board for either of these strollers, meaning that an extra passenger can ride along while standing when little legs get tired, allowing the Vista to transport three little ones!

Seat Capacity and Configuration

One of Vista’s biggest selling points is its convertibility, which is why I chose it as my family’s first stroller. It can hold two bassinets, two infant car seats, two toddler seats, or a mix of the three. Comparatively, the Minu can only transport one seated child.

The weight limit for passengers in the Vista and the Minu toddler seats is 50 pounds, which is high. The weight capacity for the Vista’s second toddler-style seat, called the RumbleSeat, is 35 pounds, which some parents find limiting.

Compared to other convertible strollers, a major win for the Vista is that adding the second seat does not occupy the stroller’s ample storage space. However, some parents find that adding a second child makes the stroller more unsteady over rough terrain and can make steering more difficult.

You can easily recline the seats on both strollers to create a more relaxed position suitable for naps, and both have adjustable calf support. While the Vista’s seats are reversible, the Minu seat only faces forward.

UPPAbaby consistently uses premium fabrics on their seating, creating a cushy spot for your small passenger to lounge in either stroller.

The Final Verdict: Vista vs. Minu

The UPPAbaby Vista and the UPPAbaby Minu are high-quality strollers suitable for everyday use. UPPAbaby delivers premium results on both strollers, but they accomplish varied goals for parents because they are in different categories. UPPAbaby has a helpful specification chart that clearly outlines the strollers’ detailed differences for prospective buyers.

If you need a double stroller, or if you need to load more than 20 pounds of cargo underneath the seats, the Vista is your winner. Its ability to transport two seated children and one standing make it appealing to growing families, and its extremely smooth ride and maneuverability are unsurpassed by other strollers.

Comparatively, the Minu’s light weight and portability make it a breeze to use for errands and daily activities while still providing a comfy ride for your child. If you’re looking for a smooth, sleek stroller that’s not bulky or heavy, the Minu will not disappoint.

Head to head, I would choose the Minu as the more impressive stroller. Its reduced cost, weight, and size make it an appealing choice without sacrificing quality. It is also ideal as a secondary stroller for moms who have another larger stroller at home.
