Below, we’ve done a deep dive into what makes the City Mini Gt2 stroller tick, along with some general aspects to look for when choosing a stroller.

Table of Contents

Things to Consider Before Buying

You might need a stroller for trips to the grocery store, a jog around the neighborhood, or a hiking excursion. Depending on what you plan to use the stroller for, it would be best to consider a few things before purchasing to ensure you choose the best stroller for you and your child, of course.

Ease of Use

A stroller is supposed to make traveling with your child nearly effortless. Strap them in, push off, and you’re all set. However, if you spend most of your time with the stroller struggling with unreliable wheels, you’re going to have difficulty using the stroller in all.

Instead, check out the stroller’s wheels beforehand. Push the stroller around for a little bit first to ensure everything works as it should. If the device has small, plastic wheels instead of thick, all-terrain wheels, you’re more likely to face navigation problems in the future, especially if you purchase the stroller to go jogging.

Strollers can also make your life easier by including a travel system. Travel system strollers come with a matching infant car seat so that you can easily go from the car to the sidewalk or even off the beaten path.

Design and Material

Speaking of wheel material, you’ll want to look for a stroller made entirely with durable materials, such as rubber tires and nylon or weather-resistant fabric for the hood. These materials have the endurance to withstand daily jogs, outings, and the test of time.

Since you might not need it for too long–kids seem to grow faster than the blink of an eye–you don’t want to have to replace your stroller multiple times. Or, if you plan to use a similar stroller for the kids yet to come, you might not want to purchase a brand new one for each child.

If you will be going on leisurely outings or jogs, you might want to consider a baby jogger with an aerodynamic, stable structure. Strollers with three wheels are probably your best bet because they can slice through the air for speed.

Safety

Besides having the means to transport your baby from here to there, you want to ensure your child’s safety. So what’s the point in purchasing a stroller that poses a potential threat to your child’s well-being? Absolutely none.

As far as safety features go, it would help to inspect strollers for parking brakes, durability, weather resistance, weight capacity, proper ventilation, and sun protection. For example, if the stroller doesn’t come with a reliable hood or a hood at all, it shouldn’t take up another second of your time.

Young children, especially infants, have tender skin that can burn and damage easily when exposed to harsh sunlight. Therefore, the primary function of the stroller’s hood is to protect your child from the sun’s harmful UV rays. If the stroller’s hood can’t do that, move on to another option.

Cleaning Ease

Weather resistance isn’t only a quality to look for when considering your stroller’s durability; it’s also beneficial for cleaning. For example, if your little one tends to spill, a water-proof, weather-resistant fabric will keep liquids from seeping into the stroller seat fabric, creating mold and a more challenging clean.

Storage

Since you may need to transport your stroller to your desired destination or don’t want to leave it lying around the house, you’ll need it to comply with your storage space inside and outside your home.

For example, if you want to pack the stroller in your car for a day at the park, you might want to consider a lightweight stroller that folds up compactly for effortless transport.

Similarly, you don’t want to have to lug a super heavy stroller around from place to place and in and out of storage. You’re a parent; you’re most likely tired and don’t need a stroller weighing you down. With that in mind, a lightweight stroller might be the thing to go for when choosing a stroller.

Features and Benefits

With the City Mini Gt2, you not only get a transportation device for your child, but you get a high-quality stroller that is easily portable, protects your child from the elements, and can handle all kinds of terrain.

Portability

The City Mini Gt2 jogging stroller has a unique one-handed fold technique, making it easy to break down and fold over for storage. Once you’ve taken the stroller down, you don’t have to worry about the stroller popping back up as you lift it into your car’s trunk.

The stroller automatically locks into place so that you can pick it up and transport it where you need it. In addition, the City Mini Gt2 can slide into tight spaces in its folded state and maximize your trunk storage space.

All-Terrain Design

Just because you have a baby doesn’t mean that your daily pleasures have to end. With the City Mini Gt2’s all-terrain design, you can take your child with you on hikes, strolls, jogs, and errands.

The forever-air rubber tires paired with the all-wheel suspension make it easy to navigate rugged terrain while keeping your kid comfortable. Plus, the adjustable handlebar comes with a hand-operated brake handle so you can make abrupt stops as needed to ensure your baby’s safety.

UV Protection

Keep your kid safe while out and about under the sun with the City Mini Gt2’s UV protective canopy. You can roll the hood down if it’s cloudy and quickly pop it up when the sun comes out to keep the top of your little one’s head safe from harmful UV rays. But, even with the large, full-coverage canopy set up, you can still keep an eye on your child thanks to the stroller’s peek-a-boo window.

The little peephole window is a clear plastic square underneath a velcro patch in the canopy. As you walk about, roll the fabric back for a birds-eye view of your child.

Alternatives & Conclusion

The City Mini Gt2 stroller is one of our favorite options because of its all-terrain capability, portability, and protective measures. It makes keeping up with an active lifestyle and your child more convenient while staying safe.

However, if you want to see more product choices before you settle on the first stroller you read about, you might want to consider these City Mini Gt2 alternatives:

Thule Urban Glide 2 Jogging Stroller

Maybe black isn’t your color of choice. That’s ok; with the Thule Urban Glide 2 stroller, you get pretty much identical design features as the City Mini Gt2, but you get a wide variety of fabric colors to choose from, such as green, gray, blue, and red.

BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0

If the City Mini Gt2 doesn’t have enough storage for you, the BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 has plenty of pockets, pouches, and baskets to hold securely everything you could need during your outings. More specifically, this stroller has six storage pockets, including a specific cell phone pouch and an extra-large cargo pouch on its bottom.

Chicco Activ3 Air Jogging Stroller

If the City Mini Gt2 is a bit more expensive than you were looking to spend on your stroller, the Chicco Activ3 Air stroller is a more affordable alternative. This stroller still offers some of the same high-quality design aspects as the City Mini Gt2 but at a much lower price difference.
