Many parents are confused when it comes to choosing between this Sport Utility stroller and the Revolution. If you’re going to go mostly off-road in an all-terrain environment and you do more jogging than walking, then the Sport Utility is the better choice.

Why Trust Us?

Because my full-time job is being mom to 2 precious daughters, and I know a thing or two about strollers. Besides personal experience, I get feedback from other moms who use these strollers every day and put all that research into our unbiased stroller buying guides

- Kyli

The BOB Sport Utility stroller is designed much the same way a mountain bike is, with fat knobby tires that grip the ground and effective shock absorbers to smooth out the ride. The tires are also larger than the Revolution making it easier for both jogging and for going over rocky paths and muddy ruts in the road.

By the time you finish reading this review, you will have a thorough understanding of what this mountain bike of a stroller can do for you, both off-road and on. But first let’s begin with all the outstanding BOB Sport Utility StrollerThe BOB Sport Utility Stroller Review 1 features, some of which have been recently improved! Read on…

What age can my child ride?

This stroller is designed for infants and children up to 70 pounds, and if you have two children, you can get the BOB Sport Utility Duallie, which allows for two kids up to 50 pounds each to ride.

All BOB strollers can accommodate car seats including brands like Graco, Chicco, and Peg Perego. Recent improvements on the stroller make it easier to install the car seat adapter accessory, so you can turn this versatile stroller into a travel system.

BOB recommends on their official site that babies be at least eight weeks old to ride in the Sport Utility stroller if the car seat is not used. If you plan to jog, your baby needs to be six to eight months old before doing so, without the car seat. Pediatric experts take this further and recommend that your baby be 1-year old before doing any serious running or jogging. Babies’ neck muscles need to be able to withstand the shocks and vibration of running or the bumps of rough terrain.

BOB SUS Measurements:

  • Folded w/ Wheels: 41½” x 25″ x 18″
  • Folded w/o Wheels: 35″ x 25″ x 13¼”
  • Width: 25″Length: 50¼”
  • Handle height: 40¼”
  • Seat width: 14½”
  • Wheels: 16″ x 2″ (pneumatic knobby)
  • Stroller weight: 26 pounds

Rugged, yet comfortable.

Your child sits in comfort in a padded multi-position reclining seat, which has been redesigned to give better support. An improved 5-point safety harness provides better adjustability for a more secure fit as your child grows. One mom appreciates how flat the seat reclines so that when her daughter is really sleepy, she has a “bed” to lay down in. Many reviews make remarks on how comfortable their children are riding in this BOB stroller.

The BOB Sport Utility stroller has an improved heat-pressed foam padded Poly and Dobby weave fabric that is also water resistant. Cleaning up those spills is a snap. Mesh pockets on each side of the interior keep your child’s toys secure so you won’t have to stop for dropped playthings

Performance & Maneuverability

I am so impressed with the adjustable suspension system with settings for both big kids and little ones. Set it for the stiffer suspension for less weight, and looser suspension for a heavier child. This assures a smooth ride over all kinds of rough terrain no matter what your child’s weight.

I recently found this YouTube video where the dad was taking his BOB Sport Utility Stroller over a very rough dirt trail and the stroller handled it like a champ. What’s amazing is that his baby stayed sound asleep!

I just love the one-handed tracking knob that keeps it moving straight ahead during your jog. Nothing’s more annoying than having to constantly correct your stroller when it veers off in one direction and frankly it’s tiring. Wouldn’t you rather focus on your workout instead?

Safety also ensures the well-being and the BOB Sport Utility stroller comes equipped with both foot braking and a runaway tether strap on the handle so that you never lose contact with your stroller. If you need to simply slow down a little while going down an incline, use the caliper handbrake on the handlebar to decrease speed.

Tell me more about the sun canopy.

You’re going to be absolutely amazed when you see the newly redesigned sun canopy on the Bob Sport Utility Stroller. It’s enormous with a 125° range of coverage to keep your child shaded no matter what the sun angle is. A mom from Lexington Kentucky remarked in her 5-star review that the canopy provides awesome sun protection for her son.

Keep in constant contact with your little one with the large peek-a-boo window and tuck in the flap with a discreet pocket at the top of the top of the window. Your Sport Utility Stroller always looks well put together and neat.

Storage & Amenities

You get a storage basket underneath the seat and side pockets for the little things you or your child would like to bring along. You also get a small storage pocket on behind the back of the seat. One reviewer says that she packs two water bottles, a changing pad, diapers, car keys, wallet, and cell phone and it still feels like nothing.

Fold up your SUS with ease when you’re finished and use a newly added strap and clip to secure the stroller in the folded position. The wheels are quick release to help make it smaller. How convenient! Reviewers say that you can fit it easily in a smaller SUV, taking about half the trunk, but do expect to use all your trunk space if your car is smaller. Most jogging strollers are going to be that big, though, and the SUS scores points for doing this well.

While the handlebar on the BOB SUS stroller is not height adjustable, it is a comfortable height for a majority of people. The handle sticks out rather far so that tall parents won’t kick the back while taking long strides.

What parents are saying:

You will be impressed to know that this rugged jogger has been extremely well-received, especially the newer model with recent improvements. Consumers give this stroller consistently high reviews!

Many parents who have purchased the Sport Utility live out in the country where there are no sidewalks and they can still take their child out and get some exercise. Both parent and child are comfortable and it is an overall enjoyable experience for everybody. I’ve read MANY parent reviews that have mentioned how safe and comfortable their children are in this fabulous stroller.

Parents who have written reviews warn to not take this BOB stroller to places like the shopping mall. Instead, they purchase a lightweight stroller to take shopping. Moms and Dads go on about the high quality of this stroller with overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Despite being a large stroller, parents make comments that they can fit their BOB Sport Utility Stroller into their car trunks without having to remove the wheels.

Several reviews mention how easy it is to assemble.

Disadvantages:

There are not very many negative reviews about the BOB Sport Utility Stroller, but the very few that are out there talk about how expensive this stroller is. It is certainly at the high end of jogging strollers, but while it is painful to shell out this kind of cash, so far all parents have said it has been worth every penny.

Several owners remarked that it was difficult to steer with the fixed front wheel. Keep this in mind that this is not a flaw with the BOB Sport Utility Stroller. Parents who are shopping around for a stroller must understand that a swivel wheel stroller like the BOB Revolution stroller would be better if you’re going to need to steer around tight corners.
