Breakfast for Dinner With Air Fryer Bacon and Black Pudding

Who says I can’t have breakfast for dinner? So basically, what we’ve got here is a delicious pork sausage, lovely crispy bacon, roasted tomatoes with olive oil and oregano, roasted mushrooms, black pudding (which in Scotland and other countries might be called blood sausage), and there are other things you could add to this.

Dinner

What you need

You could have beans, haggis; you basically have limitless options of what you can put in here, but I like just my black pudding, my mushrooms, bacon, sausage, and tomato.

And this is easy to do, so you can do it with an air fryer. So bacon is fantastic in the air fryer. If you like crispy bacon, the air fryer’s the way to go.

Steps

So for your crispy bacon, I like to use streaky bacon because you get it nice and crispy. So that goes into the air fryer, and it takes from 10 minutes to get it nice and crispy, but keep an eye on it; you don’t want burnt bacon. So once that’s cooked, you can actually take that out and leave it, and it’ll crisp up while you’re cooking your other ingredients.

So next you’re going to cook the sausage, so your pork sausages, and put them in the air fryer. They are going to take about 15 minutes for thicker sausages. If they’re thinner chipolata ones, maybe about 10 minutes.

Okay, you can judge it by the packet and just make sure make sure that the sausages are cooked all the way through.

Once my sausage is cooked, I’m actually going to cook my tomatoes, so I like my tomatoes done in the air fryer as well. So cut them up, a big vine tomato into quarters, sprinkle some salt and pepper, some oregano, a little tiny drizzle of olive oil on it, and then I cook them in the air fryer for about 15 minutes because I like them nice and soft.

And then we’re going to use the frying pan because you need to cock your black pudding and your mushrooms in a frying pan. You can’t do mushrooms in an air fryer. You need some butter in that pan with your mushrooms, and some salt and pepper, and a nice high heat to get a nice brown caramelization on your mushrooms.

Don’t wash your mushrooms; just wipe them up with a paper towel before they go in the pan and a nice hot pan, and don’t move them around too much; flip them over. If you move them around, they get watery and soggy.

When you get your mushrooms done, you can set them aside. You could actually put them in the airfryer to let them keep warm; use it like a warming drawer.

So then you can put the black pudding you want a little bit in your frying pan with a tablespoon of oil. And you can cook your black pudding depending on the thickness, but normally a slice is going to take about 5 to 8 minutes. Okay, turn it over halfway through. I like mine slightly crispy on the outside but still nice and soft in the middle.

At that point, I’m ready to serve unless you wanted some baked beans. Baked beans are quite nice with this as well, but she can just open a tin of beans, put some in the microwave, heat them up for a couple of minutes, and they’re ready to go as well.

Plating

So just plate it up to make it look nice and attractive; don’t overly load your plate, don’t make it look crazy, and so black pudding, sausage, crispy bacon on and ready to go.

If you find some toast, get it toasted in the toaster, with some nice butter and a delicious cup of tea. What more could you want? Breakfast, breakfast for dinner.

So when you’re in our house, enjoy.
