Savory French Onion Soup

Ingredients
  

  • 5 large onions thinly sliced
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 slices baguette toasted
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère

Method
 

  1. Add the sliced onions and butter to the crockpot.
  2. Cover and cook on low 8 hours until deeply golden and caramelized.
  3. Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Cover and cook 1 hour more to meld the flavors.
  5. Ladle into bowls and top each with a toasted baguette slice and Gruyère.
  6. Broil briefly to melt the cheese, then serve.
