Rice Krispie Christmas Trees

Shape green-tinted Rice Krispie treats into little cones, decorate with M&M ornaments and a candy star on top — they look like actual tiny Christmas trees and your kids will be so proud. Set up a decorating station with all the toppings and let them loose. These are the treat that gets photographed

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • Green food coloring
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 cup mini M&Ms for ornaments
  • 20 yellow star-shaped candies or yellow M&Ms for tree tops
  • Green sanding sugar optional

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat, add marshmallows, and stir until completely melted.
  2. Stir in green food coloring until the desired color is reached.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies until evenly coated.
  4. Grease your hands with butter and shape about 1/4 cup of the mixture into a cone shape for each tree. Work quickly.
  5. Press mini M&Ms into the sides as ornaments and place a star candy on top of each tree.
  6. Sprinkle with green sanding sugar if desired and let cool completely on parchment.
