Chocolate Lava Cake

An indulgent and gooey chocolate cake with a molten center that is cooked in a crockpot.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours 30 minutes
Total Time 2 hours 45 minutes
Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.33 cup melted butter
  • 1.5 cups hot water

Method

  1. Grease the crockpot and whisk flour, half the sugar, half the cocoa, milk, and butter into a batter.
  2. Spread the batter evenly in the crockpot.
  3. Stir the remaining sugar and cocoa together and sprinkle over the batter.
  4. Gently pour the hot water over the top without stirring.
  5. Cover and cook on high 2 to 2.5 hours until the top is set but the center is gooey.
  6. Turn off the heat and let it rest 15 minutes to firm slightly before scooping.

Notes

Resist peeking too early; the molten center needs the full cook time to develop.
