Apple Cinnamon Snickerdoodle Crisp

Soothing baked cinnamon apples with a chewy buttery crumble cookie topping.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for topping
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon for topping
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Method
 

  1. Heat the oven to 350F and butter a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Toss the apples with the sugar, 2 tbsp flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice, then spread in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, combine the topping flour, brown sugar, cream of tartar, and cinnamon.
  4. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  5. Scatter the crumble evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake 35 to 40 minutes until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbling at the edges.

Notes

Wonderful warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
