Yule Log Cake by Natasha's Kitchen

Chocolate frosting on a chocolate cream roll and sponge.
Prep Time 40 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes
Total Time 52 minutes
Servings: 10 slices

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Beat the eggs and sugar until thick and pale, then fold in the flour and cocoa.
  2. Spread the batter on a lined sheet pan and bake at 350F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. Turn the warm sponge onto a sugared towel and roll it up to set its shape, then cool.
  4. Whip the cream, unroll the sponge, spread the cream, and roll it back up.
  5. Frost the outside with chocolate frosting, drag a fork through for bark texture, and dust with powdered sugar like snow.

Notes

Rolling the sponge while still warm trains it to curl without cracking.
