In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture and whisk until combined.
Add flour one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375°F.
Bake for 16-18 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter immediately after removing from oven and serve warm.
