Total Time 40 minutes
Servings: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar for icing
  • 3 tbsp milk for icing

Method

  1. Cream the butter and sugar, then beat in the egg and vanilla.
  2. Mix in the flour and salt until a dough forms, then chill 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough, cut into snowflake shapes, and bake at 350F for 10 minutes until the edges are just set.
  4. Cool the cookies completely while you whisk the powdered sugar and milk into a smooth white icing.
  5. Pipe snowflake patterns onto each cookie and let the icing dry fully before stacking.

Notes

Chilling the dough keeps the snowflake shapes crisp and sharp.
