Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tbsp milk for icing
  • 2 tbsp sparkling sugar

Method

  1. Cream the butter and sugar, then beat in the egg and vanilla.
  2. Mix in the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt to form a dough, then chill 1 hour.
  3. Roll to 1/4 inch and cut snowflake shapes, then bake at 350F for 9-10 minutes.
  4. Cool fully, then whisk the powdered sugar with milk into a pipeable icing.
  5. Pipe snowflake patterns and finish with a sprinkle of sparkling sugar.

Notes

Let the icing dry an hour before stacking so the designs don't smudge.
