Sausage and Cheddar Egg Casserole

This is the one you prep the night before and just slide into the oven while the kids are still in pajamas. It feeds a crowd without any morning stress. Sausage, eggs, cheese — everyone eats it and nobody complains.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage browned and drained
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 6 slices white bread cubed
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Method
 

  1. Grease a 9x13 baking dish and spread the cubed bread in an even layer on the bottom.
  2. Scatter the browned sausage over the bread, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar on top.
  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  5. In the morning, preheat oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes until set and golden on top. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
