Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh chestnuts
  • 1 tbsp butter melted
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt

Method

  1. Score an X into the flat side of each chestnut with a sharp knife.
  2. Soak them in warm water for 10 minutes, then pat dry.
  3. Spread cut side up on a baking sheet.
  4. Roast at 425F for 20 to 25 minutes until the shells peel back at the cut.
  5. Peel while warm, then toss with melted butter and flaky salt.

Notes

Wrap the roasted chestnuts in a kitchen towel for a few minutes to make peeling easier.
