Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies

Soft red velvet crinkle cookies with a slight hint of cocoa and tops coated in powdered sugar.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Method
 

  1. Whisk the flour, cocoa, and baking powder together.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs and red food coloring.
  3. Stir in the dry ingredients to form a soft dough, then chill 1 hour.
  4. Roll the dough into balls and coat generously in powdered sugar.
  5. Place on lined sheets and bake at 350F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  6. Cool on the pan briefly so the crinkles hold their shape.

Notes

A thick powdered sugar coating makes the crackle pattern pop.
