  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup butter softened

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two 8-inch round pans.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking soda in a large bowl.
  3. Add the buttermilk, eggs, oil, food coloring, and vanilla, then beat until the batter is smooth and bright.
  4. Divide between the pans and bake for 28 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean, then cool completely.
  5. Beat the cream cheese and butter until fluffy, then beat in the Nutella until you have a smooth, spreadable frosting.
  6. Stack and frost the cooled layers, spreading frosting over the top and sides.

Notes

Make sure the layers are fully cool or the frosting will slide.
