Place wrapped smokies in your slow cooker in a single layer (it's okay to stack them slightly).
Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over all the smokies, then drizzle with maple syrup.
Cover and cook on LOW for 2 hours, until the bacon is cooked through and the sugar mixture is bubbling and glossy. Do not expect a reliably crisp finish after 2 hours on LOW.
Stir gently and switch to WARM for serving. For a crisper finish, arrange the cooked smokies on a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet and broil briefly, watching constantly because the sugar can burn.
