Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pockets

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 6 slices of deli ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Optional: mustard or mayo for dipping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface until it's about 12 inches by 12 inches.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into 6 equal squares.
  4. Place a slice of ham on each square of puff pastry.
  5. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the ham.
  6. Fold each puff pastry square in half, forming a triangle. Press the edges with a fork to seal.
  7. In a small bowl, beat the egg with the tablespoon of water to make an egg wash.
  8. Brush the tops of the puff pastry pockets with the egg wash to give them a nice golden color when baked.
  9. Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Optional: Serve with mustard or mayo for dipping.

Notes

These are great reheated in the air fryer or oven for a quick snack later! You can easily switch up the fillings to suit your family's preferences, like adding turkey or different cheeses.
