Gruyère Cheese Straws

Golden baked straws of flaky buttery puff pastry twisted with nutty gruyere.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 cup grated gruyère
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika

Method
 

  1. Heat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and brush with beaten egg.
  3. Sprinkle gruyère, pepper, and paprika evenly over the surface.
  4. Cut into strips and twist each one a few times.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until puffed and golden.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Keep the pastry cold until you bake for the flakiest straws.
