Gooey Rice Krispie Christmas Trees

These Rice Cereal Treats are soft and gooey. They are tinted green and shaped like trees. They have rainbow candies as ornaments and sugar stars on top.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 10-oz bag marshmallows
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1/2 tsp green gel food coloring
  • 1/3 cup assorted mini candies
  • 8 yellow star sprinkles

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat, then add the marshmallows and stir until fully melted.
  2. Stir in the green food coloring until the mixture is evenly tinted.
  3. Remove from heat and fold in the cereal until everything is coated.
  4. Let the mixture cool just enough to handle, then butter your hands and shape it into cone-shaped little trees.
  5. Press mini candies all over as ornaments and top each tree with a star sprinkle.

Notes

Buttered hands are the secret to shaping these without a sticky mess.
