Total Time 45 minutes
Servings: 1 display

Ingredients

  • 1 kit gingerbread house pieces pre-baked
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 2 cups assorted candy for decorating
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Beat the egg whites, powdered sugar, and cream of tartar until stiff and glossy to make royal icing, then spoon into a piping bag.
  2. Pipe icing along the edges of the back, front, and side walls and press them together, holding until set.
  3. Let the assembled walls dry for 15 minutes, then pipe icing along the roof edges and attach the roof panels.
  4. Decorate the house with assorted candy, using icing as glue for windows, doors, and trim.
  5. Dust the roof and base with powdered sugar to mimic snow and set on a cake stand for display.

Notes

Let each section dry before moving on so the house doesn't slump.
