Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, then mix well.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are firm. Let cookies cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  3. Decorate with your favorite icing or enjoy plain!
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  6. In another large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  9. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  10. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  11. Tip: Chilling the dough helps the cookies keep their shape. Happy baking!
