Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups cooked turkey finely chopped or shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ cup water or chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, cooking for 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chopped turkey and cook for 2-3 minutes to warm through.
  4. Add ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, water, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns if desired, then pile on the turkey mixture and serve immediately. Don't forget the napkins!
