Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked turkey shredded or diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for heat
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8-10 taco shells or soft tortillas
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa or hot sauce

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne (if using). Cook for 30 seconds to toast the spices.
  4. Add the turkey and chicken broth to the skillet. Stir everything together and let simmer for 5-7 minutes until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the turkey is heated through.
  5. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Warm your taco shells or tortillas according to package directions.
  7. Fill each taco shell with the seasoned turkey mixture and top with your favorite toppings—lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and salsa.
  8. Serve immediately and watch them disappear! Set out extra toppings so everyone can customize their own.
