Eggnog French Toast

Thick bread soaked in spiced eggnog custard, then griddled to a golden and custardy finish.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices brioche bread thick cut
  • 1.5 cups eggnog
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • maple syrup for serving

Method
 

  1. Whisk the eggnog, eggs, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  2. Soak each slice of brioche in the custard for 20 seconds per side.
  3. Melt butter on a griddle over medium heat.
  4. Cook the soaked bread for 3 minutes per side until golden and set.
  5. Dust with extra nutmeg and serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

Day-old brioche soaks up the custard best without falling apart.
