Crescent-Wrapped Asparagus Spears

This one looks way more impressive than it is, which is exactly what you need for a dinner party. Each asparagus spear gets wrapped in a strip of crescent dough and baked until golden and crispy. Set them out on a long platter and watch people think you spent the afternoon cooking.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tube crescent roll dough
  • 16 medium asparagus spears trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Separate crescent dough into triangles and cut each triangle into two long thin strips.
  3. Brush asparagus lightly with olive oil and mix Parmesan, garlic powder, and pepper together.
  4. Wrap each asparagus spear in one dough strip, spiraling from bottom to tip.
  5. Roll wrapped spears in the Parmesan mixture and place on baking sheet.
  6. Bake 12 to 14 minutes until dough is golden, then zest lemon over the top before serving.
