Creamy Potato Gratin

Tender slices of potatoes layered with rich, garlic-infused cream and topped with a golden, cheesy crust.

Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 lbs Yukon gold potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese shredded
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Warm the cream with the garlic, salt, nutmeg, and pepper in a saucepan.
  2. Layer half the potato slices in a buttered baking dish.
  3. Pour over half the cream and half the cheese, then repeat the layers.
  4. Cover with foil and bake at 375F for 35 minutes.
  5. Uncover and bake another 15 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  6. Let it rest 10 minutes before serving so it sets.

Notes

Slice the potatoes thin and even for the silkiest layers.
