Ingredients

  • 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 4 cups cold filtered water
  • 1 large pitcher or jar with lid
  • 1 fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • Additional water or milk for serving

Method

  1. Combine the coarsely ground coffee and cold filtered water in a large pitcher or jar, stirring gently to ensure all grounds are saturated.
  2. Cover the pitcher and let it steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours (the longer it steeps, the stronger the concentrate).
  3. After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter to remove all grounds, pouring the concentrate into a clean container.
  4. To serve, dilute the concentrate with equal parts water, milk, or your preferred dairy alternative over ice, adjusting the ratio to your taste preference.
  5. Store the cold brew concentrate in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to two weeks, using as needed for various coffee drinks.
