Classic Sugar Cookie Gift Jars

Ingredients
  

  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp colored sprinkles

Method
 

  1. Layer the flour whisked with baking powder and salt, then the sugar and a sprinkle layer in a quart jar.
  2. Seal and attach a baking card.
  3. To bake, mix with 3/4 cup softened butter, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla into a dough.
  4. Chill the dough 30 minutes, then roll, cut into shapes, and bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Cool completely before decorating with icing.

Notes

Chilling the dough makes it much easier to roll and cut cleanly.
