In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down dough and divide into 18 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F.
Bake for 16-18 minutes until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter immediately after removing from oven. Serve warm.
