Cook Time 40 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 20 minutes
Servings: 12 slices

Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup mixed dried fruit
  • 7 oz marzipan
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk and let it foam.
  2. Mix in the flour, butter, sugar, and dried fruit to form a soft dough; knead until smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll out, lay a log of marzipan down the center, and fold the dough over it.
  5. Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes until golden.
  6. Brush with butter and dust heavily with powdered sugar while warm.

Notes

Resist slicing until it cools so the marzipan stays put.
