Total Time 8 hours 20 minutes
Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb lean beef thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Method

  1. Whisk the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, pepper, and garlic powder into a marinade.
  2. Add the beef strips and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
  3. Preheat the oven to 275°F. Arrange the drained strips on racks over a rimmed baking sheet without overlap.
  4. Heat the strips until an instant-read thermometer registers 160°F.
  5. Reduce the oven to its lowest setting, around 175°F, and continue drying until firm and chewy but not brittle, allowing 3 to 4 hours total oven time. Cool completely, then refrigerate in an airtight container.

Notes

Slice the beef against the grain for a more tender chew.
