Apple Ginger Chutney

In this recipe, apples and fresh ginger are made into a sweet chutney and cooked down with vinegar and warm, fragrant spices.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 apples diced
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

  1. Combine the apples, ginger, brown sugar, vinegar, raisins, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Cook 25 to 30 minutes, stirring often, until thick and glossy.
  4. Mash lightly for a chunky-jammy texture.
  5. Cool to room temperature before serving with cheese or roasted meats.
