Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 40 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 8 cups bread cubes dried
  • 2 apples diced
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp chopped sage

Method

  1. Heat oven to 350F and butter a baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter and cook the onion and celery until soft, about 8 minutes.
  3. Stir in the apples, cranberries, and sage and cook 3 more minutes.
  4. Toss the bread cubes with the vegetable mixture in a large bowl.
  5. Pour in the broth and stir until evenly moistened, then spread in the dish.
  6. Cover and bake 25 minutes, uncover, and bake 15 more until the top is crisp.

Notes

Day-old bread soaks up the broth without turning to mush.
