8) Sourdough-Cranberry French Toast Bake

Sourdough brings a mild tang that balances the sweet custard really well. Pair that with tart cranberry bites and you've got something that tastes more interesting than your standard cinnamon bake without being complicated.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 cups cubed sourdough 1-inch cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Scatter bread cubes and cranberries in the dish.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour custard evenly over the bread and press gently to soak.
  5. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until puffed and set.
  7. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
