8) Construction Truck Cake with Toy Topper

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box yellow cake mix plus ingredients on box
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting store-bought
  • 2 cups vanilla frosting tinted orange with 2 drops orange food coloring
  • 1 cup crushed chocolate cookies for dirt
  • 1 small plastic toy construction truck cleaned
  • 1 sheet of graham cracker for road
  • Sprinkles for rocks 1/4 cup

Method
 

  1. Bake cake mix in a 9x13-inch pan at 350°F for 25–30 minutes; cool 30 minutes.
  2. Cut cake lengthwise into two slabs; stack with a thin layer of chocolate frosting between.
  3. Crumb-coat whole cake with chocolate frosting; chill 15 minutes.
  4. Spread orange frosting smooth; leave one short end lower to mimic a dump bed.
  5. Press crushed cookies around base and on one side for dirt.
  6. Break graham cracker into a road; place alongside cake and add sprinkles as rocks.
  7. Set the clean toy truck on top, with a bit of frosting under wheels to secure.
