15) Pear, Blue Cheese, and Walnut Crostini

Sweet pear, sharp blue cheese, crunchy walnuts, a tiny drizzle of honey. That combination works because every element does something different: sweetness, salt, fat, crunch, and a little floral finish from the honey. Nothing is competing. Everything is cooperating.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 French baguette sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 ripe pears thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces blue cheese crumbled
  • cup chopped walnuts toasted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Brush baguette slices with olive oil and toast at 400°F for 8–10 minutes until lightly crisp. Let them cool completely.
  2. Top each slice with a few pear slices and a sprinkle of blue cheese.
  3. Add chopped walnuts, then drizzle lightly with honey.
  4. Finish with a tiny pinch of salt and pack in a single layer for travel.
