14) Overnight Croissant French Toast Casserole

Croissants make this one richer than any other casserole on this list. Buttery, flaky on top, custardy through the middle. The overnight soak is worth it — the croissants absorb the egg mixture completely and the whole thing bakes up with these golden, caramelized edges that are hard to stop picking

Ingredients
  

  • 8 large croissants torn into 2-inch pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Method
 

  1. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread croissant pieces evenly in the dish.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour custard over croissants, pressing pieces down to soak.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top.
  6. Drizzle melted butter across the casserole.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  9. Bake uncovered 35–40 minutes until set and golden.
  10. Cool 10 minutes before serving.
