10. Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies

All the flavor of a cinnamon roll without the yeast and rising time. These are a huge hit on weekend mornings.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup store-bought cream cheese icing

Method
 

  1. Beat the butter and granulated sugar together. Add the egg and vanilla.
  2. Stir in the flour and baking powder to form a dough.
  3. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
  4. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough rectangle.
  5. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice the chilled log into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 9 to 11 minutes.
  8. Drizzle with cream cheese icing while still slightly warm.
