1. The Classic Sausage and Biscuit Casserole

This is the standard recipe that saves my sanity on Sunday mornings. It uses simple ingredients and delivers that traditional diner taste without the diner wait time.
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 can 16 oz refrigerated jumbo biscuits
  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Do not drain the grease.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir for one minute.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly. Cook until the gravy thickens, then season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cut the raw biscuits into quarters and spread them evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
  6. Pour the hot sausage gravy evenly over the biscuit pieces.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
