Spicy Tofu Pasta: A 15-Minute Recipe With Green Chilies

This recipe is super quick and very easy. If you have never cooked with tofu before, it is a great beginner-friendly recipe.

Fill a 2-quart saucepan with 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add 3 cups of desired pasta. Stir until the pasta is cooked (tender), and remove from heat. Strain the pasta and set it off to the side.

Drain water out of the package of extra-firm tofu, and empty the tofu into a large frying pan. Break the tofu up with a spatula while cooking on medium heat. Cook for about 5 minutes, moving the tofu around constantly.

Add a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, and 3 pinches of garlic powder to the tofu, and mix it in. Add your 10 oz. can of tomatoes and green chilies to the tofu, and mix them in.

Add about half of your 24 oz. jar of pasta sauce to the tofu and stir until the sauce is fully heated. Turn off your heat. Pour your tofu sauce mixture over your pasta.

Helpful Hints

This is good to eat with a salad or steamed veggies. I would personally choose steamed broccoli! If you would prefer, you could use ground turkey or ground beef instead of tofu. Be sure to cook your choice of meat thoroughly!

I only use half of the jar of sauce, but you could use more if you would like a saucier sauce.

  • 16 oz extra firm tofu package
  • 24 oz tomato basil garlic pasta sauce jar, or your preferred sauce (use about half, or more to taste)
  • 10 oz tomatoes and green chilies can (popularly known as Rotel)
  • 16 oz whole wheat penne pasta box, or pasta of your choice (use 3 cups)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 3 pinches garlic powder
  • 4 cups water
