This stroller has been compared to other top models, such as the UPPAbaby Minu and the Maclaren Triumph. All three strollers were highly rated, but the G-Luxe won for its inclusion of the best features of each: size, weight, features, handling, and cost.
The UPPAbaby G-Luxe is considered the lightest full-size stroller in its class. Weighing a mere 16.3 pounds, it packs a lot of high-quality features for such a feather-light stroller.

How is the steering?
The UPPAbaby G-Luxe has lockable front swivel wheels, which add more stability. The four 5½-inch wheels with shock-absorbing suspension allow for easy maneuvering and pushing, lending to a very smooth ride. These features make the G-Luxe perfect for outings and long-distance journeys or quick trips into the store or doctor’s office. One satisfied dad claims that he can even push it on cobblestone paths and the stroller drives very easily compared to other stroller brands he has tried. Points for handling rough surfaces or uneven terrain!
Tell me about the fold
Another excellent feature of the G-Luxe is its standing fold, thanks to a small kickstand, shown in the picture below. This stroller folds by using a one-hand trigger, which is convenient, especially when traveling by public transportation or when your hands are full with your kiddo and all of their belongings. The compact fold is especially beneficial for storage, particularly in smaller homes or tight spaces like a crowded restaurant.
What can I expect with the seat?
The UPPAbaby G-Luxe seat has three different reclining positions, from an upright position to an almost complete recline. This is done with a new lever that works with one hand. Personally, this is my favorite kind of recline because it’s effortless. Not many umbrella strollers offer a reclining seat, but because the G-Luxe does, your child can rest comfortably. This is essential for long trips when your child is tired from all that excitement.
This UPPAbaby stroller has a 5-point harness for your baby’s safety. Adjust the harness to allow for your child’s growth, and when you wish to convert to a 3-point lap belt, you can remove the shoulder straps.
The harness has a Velcro cover that hides the buckles to prevent your little Houdini from managing an escape. I also think that the Velcro covering makes it look a little neater, as well.
The fabric is very soft, and the padding is very plush. Also, you will inevitably have messes with a toddler, and having a removable and washable seat pad is a huge benefit.
The seatback is reinforced with the stroller frame, so your child experiences the combined softness of the cushioned seat pad but firm support to help with posture and comfort. I really like the back support, as I’ve heard several complaints from parents about the hammock-style seating in other umbrellas or lightweight strollers.
To make naptime even more restful, especially for smaller babies with short legs, the UPPAbaby G-Luxe has an adjustable footrest that flips up to give needed support, even when reclining. You feel great seeing your child napping soundly in comfort.

Strolling comfort for parents
The stroller has ergonomic handles, which is ideal for taller parents. The stroller has an elevated rear frame, which prevents you from kicking the back if you have a longer stride.
The brakes have been redesigned on the newest models, as well. Merely step down on the red lever to stop and then on the green lever to go. It is the most flip-flop-friendly brakes you can get!
How about the sun canopy?
I love the sun canopy on the G-Luxe. It has an extended UPF 50+ sun canopy with a silver sun visor, which not only reflects the sun effectively but looks pretty cool for your tiny astronaut. In addition, it can “float” to follow the sun, meaning you can push the rear part of the canopy forward to block the sun at any angle.
Many happy moms have said that the G-Luxe has a massive canopy for an umbrella stroller, exceeding their expectations.
Storage & convenience
While most umbrella strollers don’t have much in the way of a storage basket, the 2018 UPPAbaby G-Luxe got an improved basket that holds up to 10 pounds! You’ll get all your essential baby necessities and a small bag or purse, which is thoroughly sufficient for most people. The G-Luxe also has a rear mesh pocket for more storage space, and who doesn’t love and need more pockets! If you need more storage, there is an additional parent organization caddy that you can purchase separately.
The stroller also has a removable cup holder attachment included, which can be placed on the left or right side of the stroller.
For me, a parent cup holder is a must-have feature, which makes the stroller unique as most other umbrella stroller brands don’t offer a cup holder or the option to add one. This is just another reason the UPPAbaby G-Luxe is one of the best umbrella strollers.
Tell Me About the Fabric
When having drinks on the go with a baby, spills are inevitable. However, with the UPPAbaby G-Luxe stroller, you do not need to worry about cleaning. The stroller resists stains and spills with a machine washable, removable seat pad and StainDefend fabrics. It helps many moms keep the stroller clean and hygienic effortlessly. In addition, the G-Luxe mesh fabric is breathable, making it super comfortable and airy for warm climates.

UPPAbaby G-Luxe reviews from many web retailers fall around 4.5 stars, including Amazon, BuyBuyBaby, and Strolleria. It’s the best umbrella stroller to have for running errands or quick trips. Many families keep this compact stroller in their car for their outings and take it with them on family vacations and trips abroad because it is so lightweight and doesn’t take up much room in your trunk.
Honestly, though, the UPPAbaby Minu seems to be an overwhelming favorite among parents. Still, the difference between the two, besides the extra versatility and a few bonus features, is a several hundred dollar difference. So, it may just come down to your stroller budget.
Consumer Reports gives the G-Luxe a lower rating than the G-Lite. Testers like the lightweight compactness of the stroller and the easy fold. It got a very good mark for ease of use, a good mark for safety, and an excellent mark for maneuverability.
One Amazon reviewer said:
“This stroller exceeded all my expectations for what a stroller should be. The quickness and ease of folding and unfolding this stroller made getting [around] so hassle-free. I love the fact that a strap is attached which makes it easy to throw over your shoulder. […] . …From an Ergonomic standpoint I found the stroller very comfortable to push. […] Overall this stroller is very high quality and I have zero complaints with it.”
Disadvantages:
There are few complaints about this stroller, but the disadvantages are consistent over several reviews. The first is that the straps on the safety harness don’t extend out enough to allow for thick coats in wintertime. One alternative to this would be the addition of the Cozy Ganoosh.
When a child is bundled up, mom can have difficulty securing her little. The other bummer is that there’s no peek-a-boo window on the top of the canopy. A couple of complaints have been made about difficulty folding the G-Luxe (the Minu is a little easier), and a few owners wish there were a child’s cup holder.
One dad said that all of the ‘Cons’ of the G-Luxe are the same complaints you’d have with any umbrella stroller: not great storage and a little ‘tippy’ when your child is not riding in it.
