📋 Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

📝 Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Arrange a layer of sweet potato slices at the bottom.
  4. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  5. Add a layer of Gruyère cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with cheese.
  7. In a small pot, heat cream and garlic just until it simmers.
  8. Pour the warm cream over the potatoes.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden brown.
  11. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

📝 Notes:

  • Use a mandolin slicer for even potato slices.
  • Try adding a sprinkle of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • This gratin can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
